The in-service was very informative today and touched upon a topic that is very crucial to our students and to us as teachers and parents. The personal stories about the kids that were affected by this were very disturbing and heart-wrenching. The information gained will help us as teachers and as parents to ensure every child's safety while on the Internet.

This was a very enlightening inservice. The Frontline piece very effectively showed the huge pressure that our kids are under to be a part of the online craziness.

Mr Cavanuagh's presentation was well delivered and and helpful.

I'm not sure what exactly we can do to help our students. it is good to be informed in case we are faced with an incident in which we happen to hear something. I would like to learn what I can do to help and to teach internet safety to our students.

This same presentation should be given to the studetns.

The information gained from today's in-service was very informative and touched upon many issues that are disturbing to our students. The knowledge that I have gained through this was important for not only myself, but also to inform students and to learn more about internet safety for my own children.

This is a list of itmes I'm taking home today:

I didn't know there were proxy sites to avoid school filters. I didn't know about secondlife.com, rateyourteacher.com and other sites of the like.

It was a good in-service.

Thank you.

As a parent of a 14 year old girl this whole thing scares the hell out of me. I would like to be able to talk to Brian or one of his counterparts in a smaller group setting. This is too important to just skim over. Also sites like YouTube aren't bolcked but legitimate technocal and technically related sites are. WHY?

1 & 2) Growing up online further opened up my line to the danger of online posting of personal info. as did the lecture.

4) I believe as teachers it is our duty to comment on safety whenever we hear students putting themselves at risk or bullying eachother. Also it is our duty to inform the disciplinarians or authorities as necessary.

Entire sesion very informative
Afternoon session good but long time to stay seated in one spot. Would have been beneficial to actually go to my space and other sites and see them.
School's role could provide one session on safety to all students

Didn't really learn anything new. Feel Greater Lowell has pretty much covered the topic. Thought the Frontline presentation was worthwhile.

Informative,Well presented,What the hell was the matter with those parents on Frontline? The Skinner kid should pay his own tuition to the Coast Guard Academy even if is's free---or give his parents his password.

The in-service was very informative. It was interesting to see the other side of teenagers and what a real danger the internet can be. Everyone always thinks "It won't happen to me" but that presentation showed that it could. It would be beneficial to have an assembly for the students or at least some information readily available.

As a parent of a child who was threatened online, the presentation was very worthwhile. When you experience something like this for yourself, and experience the local police, state police and federal agency responses, you realize how vulnerable we all are to this type of danger. Bring a sweatshirt...

I felt the in-service was very informative. I wish there was more time to go over some of the sites and actually see them. I wish more was said about how we could actually help the students and keep them safe.

The Dateline clip was very good, quite informative...really opened my eyes to what my own children could be exposed to.

Learning the various web sites that kids use, and the possible dangers was helpful.

I think GL is doing a fine job with internet use and it's security policies.
Keep up the good work!

PS - Juan "the hi-tech man" ROCKS!

The Internet Safey Workshop was very worthwhile. There is another culture in our studet's lives and it is so very differnt from our teenage years. It is ever changing and can be dangerous. I appreciate the timely topic-it made me more aware of the dimensions of the Internet.

I thought today was very informative. It would be great if we could use the video and some of Mr. Cavanaugh's information to put together a well developed curriculum pkg for our students.Internet Safety and Cyber bullying is so much of our student's culture and way of life that we can not ignore it.
