Today's in service activity was relevant, up-to-date and informative. The scope and depth of cyberbullying is disturbing. I feel something should be added to the student handbook with consequences for cyber bullying.
"Growing up Online." Arent we already grown up? What did any of this have to do with teaching high school kids how to get a trade that will get them a good paying job? Instead, lets send the kids home at 10:45 so they can go online and chat with their friends, while the teachers stay at school learning how to be safe online. Most teachers do not teach computer courses. This should have been for the students, or the teachers who teach computers to kids. Another useless inservice.
I thought that today's in-service was informative. I'm interested in the potentials of investigating problematic students and the clues that their social networking might uncover.
Today's inservice was very informative in fact to show present day dangers that effect both our student and ourselves. I found the movie to be a very eye opening experience. I feel that cyber bullying policy has to be added to either the student handbook or school internet policy as well as a school assembly to show the effects for our students.
Interesting in-service, probably abetter choice for parents or students. It is about time that cyber bullying is addressed in this country, and needs to be addressed in the schools, more so at the earlier grades.
Mr. Cavanaugh's presentation and the Frontline information was highly timely and relevant. More in-service activities with outside speakers from the local area with whom we should be actively engaging in cooperative partnerships should be set up. Communication between the DA's Office and GLTHS should happen much more often. Bring them and other local agencies that we share common initiatives with would be more pertinent than many of the other in-service activities that we have had this year and in past years.
